“For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a slave of Christ.”
(Galatians 1:10, LSB)

Welcome to our page! I'm
glad you stopped by to learn about our church. My name is David Green, and I am the pastor. It is a
great blessing from God to be saved by His amazing grace, and what a
joy it is to be a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to pastor
Sovereign Grace Baptist Church this church here in Southeast Georgia.
I was born in Southern Ohio on February 7, 1981 and raised in northern Kentucky/southern Ohio. On April 5, 1992 I was born again after hearing the gospel preached during the Bible Conference hosted by King's Addition Baptist Church in South Shore Kentucky where my Grandfather (James Hobbs, Sr.) was pastor. I remember the guilt and the terror of hell being so real, and the only hope I had was in the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise the Lord my burden was lifted and I was saved! Not long after, I was baptized and joined King's Addition Baptist Church.
In April 1996, after spending some time with some missionaries from Papua New Guinea, I felt the call to preach. When I spoke to my grandfather about it, he said "Oh no, get out of it if you can!" I couldn't, and surrendered to the call and began preaching.
From late 2001 until the middle of 2005, I labored as a missionary in New Mexico, first out of Grace Baptist Church in Stanleyville NC then King's Addition Baptist Church in South Shore KY. I was ordained under the authority of King's Addition on July 24, 2003. The ordination council included such men as Pastor James Hobbs, Missionary Peter Halliman, Doug Newell, James Crace, Rex Smith, Bob Allard, Cletus Snyder, and Steve Compton.
From November 24, 2007 until August 9, 2020 I was priviledged to pastor Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio. That's when I became a member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Hortense Georgia. The church had extended the call for me to pastor in March that year but it took a while to get everything taken care of in Ohio. My family and I moved to Brunswick Georgia on March 5, 2021. I have been pastor here ever since.
God has blessed me with a wonderful family. My wife, Jill Sanchez and I got married on September 1, 2002. God has blessed us with three children: Leah (2004), Isaiah (2008), and Josiah (2013). So far the two oldest have made a profession of faith and I have been priviledged to baptize them. I thank God for all three of our children and pray for them daily.
The Lord continues to work in and through me, for which I am thankful. Here at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, I've been given a great opportunity to preach and teach God's Word to saints and sinners alike. Whether behind the pulpit in the church building, at home, or in one of our beautiful parks I rejoice every time I am able to open up my Bible. One preacher said one time that the pulpit is the throne for the Word of God. Pastors are to "preach the Word," (2 Timothy 4:2). We are to "feed the flock" (1 Peter 5:2). One of the qualifications of a pastor is that he be "able to teach" (1 Timothy 3:2). I know of no bettter way to fill that mandate than to take my Bible, open it up to a book, and begin preaching it. That's what I have been doing and by God's grace I'll continue. I thank the Lord for the love and faithful support of our friends - members, and visitors alike.
If you're in the area, please give me a call. My number is 912-215-3144. If you are in the area, we would love to have you with us as we assemble together on the Lord's Day or on a Tuesday evening. If you're traveling through on a different day, I will see about getting together with you. I always enjoy a cup of coffee and some good fellowship. My house is only six minutes off of I-95 south of Brunswick (exit 29).
Yours in Christ,
Pastor David M. Green
